Ženidbe i udadbe,
poslovnoj zgradi u centru Monte Karla, a zatim smo otišli u njegov restoran
na ručak. Oduševila nas je lakoća kojom prati svoj celokupni radni uspeh,
jednostavnost komunikacije i entuzijazam u poslu i životu.
ka Nici i Kanu.
ozbiljnog plemstva, predvođene svojim bratom i naslednikom prestola, princom

A principality most often reminds us of fairytales. This one was perhaps
from a fairytale, or it seemed so until half a century ago, whereas today it
is an exclusive principality. The exclusivity for sure comes with its
nobility, which has been at the centre of attention worldwide, but also the
hot topic of tabloids. Marriages and adulteries, high life and tragic
events, all that has transformed the romance from the fairytale of Grace
Kelly and Prince Rainier which has held worldwide attention, into something
common, more akin to mere mortals than the royals. As they reach middle age,
so they mature, as expected, and the details of their private lives become
less interesting to the public eye.
However, those who had the opportunity and privilege to make their home near
the palace of the above said nobility did so, which is not so difficult
given the size of the principality. Milan Janković, alias Philip Zepter is
one of those lucky guys, even though it could not be said that it was only
luck, rather it was hard work that led to the business success of worldwide
proportions.
I met him through my friend and school mate Đorđe Miljković who started his
business career with him. He greeted us in his office building in the city
centre of Monte Carlo and then we went to his restaurant for lunch. We were
impressed with his ease in dealing with all his business matters, the
simplicity of communication and his enthusiasm for work and life. As his
secretary Lepa said, he has many ideas that he records overnight on his
dictaphone, and shares them with her in the morning to start implementing
them. My friend Đorđe loves picking up a car from Philip’s car collection in
Monaco, usually something special like a Bentley or a Lamborghini Diablo.
Then we would bravely drive out of his seaside villa and would zoom down the
motorway towards Nice and Cannes, at a speed which I found incredible. On
our way back we would stop at a vantage point in Monte Carlo which lends the
most beautiful view over the city walls and the Prince’s palace.
The Avenue of Princess Grace sprawls through the city centre with the same
elegance that the Princess had herself, as she always enchanted everyone
around her with her acting, beauty and poise. She also charmed her Prince
who kept his noble spirit until late in life. They had both impressed
Aristotle Onassis and other millionaires who invested their wealth here in
the mid-twentieth century and turned the modest principality into the
luxurious Monaco of today. Wealth has become the symbol and embodiment of
this place. The famous Casino in Monte Carlo is one of those symbols.
From naughty girls prone to scandals, the princesses have come a long way to
becoming proper nobility, led by their brother and heir to the throne,
Prince Albert of Monaco.
The princedom is, it seems, on the right track to becoming a fairytale land
again.
